Fixed - chamber apparatus; with several chambers; valve systems for.-The apparatus comprises one or more measuring chambers each having an overflow opening in its roof. the full capacity of the chamber thus determining the volume of the measure, a valve-controlled discharge passage for each chamber and a feed pipe which passes to a higher level than the overflow opening, and has its end directed downwardly into the chamber. In the two-chamber apparatus shown, the pump supplies liquid through a junction box to two feed pipes each leading to a valve casing 4 in which is a plug valve 5 having an inlet port 6 through the end and bent round at right angles to itself and to a discharge port 7 in the plug so that when the inlet port is in communication with the inlet pipe the discharge port is closed to the discharge pipe. The stem of each valve carries a toothed wheel 10 in gear with a wheel pivoted between them and in one with the handle 14. The measuring chamber 16 is cylindrical, having a conical base and a conical top, the cylindrical sides being continued above the top. A number of neck pieces 22 serve to adjust the capacity. The pipe 15 passes above the top 18 and downwardly into the chamber, ending in a hollow perforated member 25 to avoid turbulence in the liquid. An opening 24 is provided to destroy a possible syphon, and a shield or cover may be fitted to the opening to direct any liquid passing over downwardly into the chamber. The discharge may be directed into an auxiliary chamber 40 to secure an uninterrupted discharge. Specifications 221,608 and 221,745 are referred to.
