Abstract
219,544. Edkins, W. J. Oct. 22, 1923. Press-button fasteners.-A snap fastener of the type in which a shouldered stud member engages a spring in the socket member and is released by tilting in one direction only, tilting in any other direction being prevented by a slotted plate at the front of the socket, has a cup-shaped casing 13 secured at the back to the material by an eyelet 5 and cover plate 14, and the slotted plate 7 is placed in front of the spring 3 and is secured by bending over the edge 15 of the casing. A projection 9 on the back of the casing engages the spring to maintain it in position and inturned lugs 10 at the open end of the slot in the plate 7 engage the spring to maintain the plate in position. In a modification, Fig. 6, the socket can be constructed so as to be passed bodily on to the shank of the stud, and allow room for a second socket to engage the stud head; in this case the socket casing is secured to the fabric by an annular plate 16 carrying lugs 17 engaging a washer 19. In a further modification, the socket is secured to woodwork bv means of a screw at its back and the stud is secured to the fabric.
