Abstract

233,182. Morton, T. June 21, 1924. Press-button fasteners- Pressbuttons and like fasteners for flexible materials, particularly of the kind diescribed n Specification 213,010, are secured to the fabric by passing a threaded shank throush the material and securing it by a nut. The nut or the base of the threaded shank carries a plate formed 'with projections for engaging the fabric and with a spring detent which engages with holes or recesses in the nut or base to form a ratchet, permitting screwing-up, but preventing unscrewing. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the socket, a has a threaded shank b passing through the fabric c, and is secured by a tapped nut d which carries a plate e with projections f for engaging the fabric and a spring tongue g which co-operates with a series of holes h in the nut to form a ratchet. The plate e is secured by spinning over the edge i of the nut. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the plate e is dished and is secured by spinning over the central part of the nut d as at j. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the stud is carried on a tapped shank b which is pushed through a hole in thefabric and secured by the nut d. The plate is carried by the base of the shank b, which is. provided with holes h co-operating with thetongue g.
