Press - button fasteners. - The elongated sockets 2 and studs 14 of an adjustable press-button fastener of the type described in Specification 7256/10 are secured to the fabric by first attaching them to an intermediate plate, such as 5 or 17, and then securing the ends of this plate to the fabric and to the cover 11 by a plate, such as 12 or 24. In the form shown in Figs. 28 and 68, the plates 12, 24 have tongues 13, which engage under the intermediate plates 5, 17, and, as shown in Fig. 68, inclines 4, 22 may be provided to guide these tongues into position. In the form shown in Fig. 69, the intermediate plates 5, 17 are provided at their ends with tongues 6, 20 by which the socket and stud respectively are secured, the one to the fabric and cover 11 through the plate 12, and the other to the fabric direct. By the use of this intermediate plate, the spring action of the stud and socket are not interfered with by their attachment to the material. The head 14 of the stud part of the fastener is made more springy by bending the centre inwards as shown in Fig. 64.
