Abstract

666,793. Making spring fasteners. SIMMONDS AEROCESSORIES, Ltd. April 26, 1950 [July 8, 1949], No. 18118/49. Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv). [Also in Groups XV and XXV] Fasteners with spring tongues projecting upwards from a body portion are made from resilient sheet stock by blanking out discs with a centrally disposed square aperture 11, Fig. 1, and intersecting circular holes 12 centred on extensions of the diagonals of the square. The tongues are shaped to project out of the plane of the fastener, as shown in Fig. 4, and their ends are arcuately formed to fit a circular stud 16. Jointing by stamping.-In securing an article such as an emblem 17 to a support 18 the fastener is slipped over the stud 16 into contact with the support and a punch 15 is employed further to advance the tongues to effect a joint with the operative part of the stud in tension.
