Abstract
724,609. Stud and socket fasteners. UNITED CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. June 5, 1953 [June 14, 1952], No. 15628/53. Class 44. In a snap fastener socket member for receiving a stud in snapping engagement, the socket having a stud engaging spring assembled therewith, the spring is formed of a single piece of resilient non-metallic material having a continuous unbroken periphery surrounding a stud-receiving aperture. In the arrangement shown, in which a stud 16 engages a socket member 10, the latter includes a peripheral recess 28 for an annular spring 30 formed of a resilient organic plastic material, preferably nylon. In another arrangement (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown), the socket member is formed with an inwardly projecting tongue which is curled around the spring on one side of the socket. In both arrangements the spring may be other than round in cross section and may be formed of other materials having the requisite resilience.
