Abstract

770,974. Stud - and - socket fastenings. UNITED - CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. June 6, 1955 [June 15, 1954], No. 16243/55. Class 44. A fastener comprises a member 12 formed of moulded synthetic plastic material and having a radial flange 22 for assembly on one side of a supporting sheet 16 and an attaching member 14 for assembly on the other side of the sheet and having a series of prongs 26 extending through the sheet and piercing the flange to retain the members in assembly on the sheet. The member 14 comprises a metal ring around the inner periphery of which the prongs 26 are arranged. When the prongs 26 have pierced the flange 22 the ends 28 are bent over to secure the members 12 and 14 together. The member 12 is shown as having a stud 18 but it can have a socket for receiving a stud such as 18. In a modification instead of the flange 22 being flat as shown it can be crowned.
