Abstract

869,718. Spring clips. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. March 11, 1959 [March 11, 1958], No. 8489/59. Class 44. A fastener device, for assembly over the edge 48 of a support 42 for securing a moulding strip 50, for example, thereto, is formed from a single piece of resilient sheet metal bent to form a substantially U-shape clip, one arm 14 of the clip being divided into three longitudinally extending portions including a centre portion 20 for engaging the support, each other portion 22 having a bent part 24 for engaging the strip 50. Each portion 22 is divided by a slot 34 to provide a leg 26, for spacing the strip 50 from the support 42, and the part 24. The leading edge 46 of the portion 20 is flared away from the support 42 to facilitate assembling the device over the edge 48 of the support, and triangular shaped lugs 40 are provided on the leg 20 for biting into the support. The part 24 of each portion 22 has its free end bent to provide a surface 32 for resiliently engaging a flange 62 of the moulding strip 50 when the latter is placed over the device. The moulding strip 50 may be secured to the support 42 by more than one fastener device.
