Abstract
218,228. RÚmondy, L. E. July 10, 1923. [Convention date]. Addition to 213,547. Projectile fuzes. - Relates to delay-action percussion fuzes of the kind claimed in the parent Specification. namely of the kind comprising a delay charge D and a relay charge of quick powder E in a socket B in the fuze body, the fore part B<1> of the socket being of smaller diameter with lateral flash holes band a nose-piece B<2> acting as a shield to protect the delay charge from the direct blow of the explosion of the percussion fuze G. According to the invention, the fuze body is made in two parts A, A<1> screwed together, and holding the socket in place between shoulders a<2>, A<2>, the rear part B of the socket fitting into the rear part A<1> of the fuze body, and the fore part B<1> of the socket projecting into the front part A of the fuze body. This enables the socket to be removed and replaced by unscrewing the front part A of the fuze body only without interfering with the rest of the fuze. The percussion fuze G is of the type described in Specification 172,326.
