Abstract
235,236. Pantoflicek, B. June 9, 1924, [Convention date]. Projectile fuzes; ammunition packing. - Relates to fuzes in which the detonator 4 and exploder 8 are embodied in the body of the projectile, the mechanical parts only of the fuze being contained in the removable cap 1. According to the invention, the detonator is shielded from the needle 16 by a sliding plate 14 which also serves to protect the detonator from mechanical and other influences during transport when the cap 1 is removed. In the form shown, the cap screws into an intermediate ring 3 having a screwed recess to receive a plug 5 in which the detonator 4 is retained by a screwed nipple 7. A second plug 12 houses the plate 14 which normally shields the detonator but which slides radially under the action of centrifugal or other force on firing, during flight, or on impact, to permit the needle 16 of the fuze to pass through the aperture 17 and strike the detonator. After unscrewing the cap 1, the opening in the projectile proper is closed by an airtight screw or cover.
