Abstract
20,892. Bacon, R. H. S., and Mansell, J. H. Oct. 12. [Addition to 7350/14.] Projectile fuses.-Consists in the addition of a percussion fuse and flash-passage obturators to the time-fuse described in the parent Specification. In the fuse shown, the fuse a contains a percussion part c in addition to the time-part b, a centrifugal spring plug which opens the flash passage l during flight, and under the bolt a disk m which is ruptured by the pressure set up by the fuse and, when ruptured, allows the flash to pass to the multiple detonator charge of trinitrophenylmethylnitraniline f, n, o. Powder pellets g transmit the flash to the charge f. The Provisional Specification also states that the timefuse part may be omitted altogether, and one of the powder pellets g may then be replaced by a pellet of slower-burning composition to delay the action of the fuse.
