Abstract

514,460. Ammunition cartridges. ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS MARGA SOC. ANON. May 6, 1938, No. 13628. Convention date, Feb. 22. [Class 9 (i)] A bullet 4 mounted in a cartridge case 2 has a cavity in its base in which the propellent charge, in capsule form, is accommodated. The bullet has a lead or other metal nose 4 with projections 4a, 4b, which are embedded in a plastic cellulose mass 5 constituting the body of the bullet. The propellent charge may consist of explosives having different burning. speeds, e.g., a mass of gunpowder 6 in a capsule 7 of rapidly burning explosive. The base of the bullet is closed by a plug 8 of shock-proof explosive, or the end of the capsule may be treated to render it shock-proof, in which case the plug 8 may be omitted. The cartridge case has a replaceable percussion cap 3, and the bullet is secured by tightening the cartridge case around it. The Specification states that cartridge cases which have been used may be directly re-utilised.
