843,057. Practice ammunition. DYNAMIT ACTIEN GESELLSCHAFT VORM. A NOBEL & CO. May 16, 1958 [May 16, 1957], No. 15880/58. Class 9(1) A practice projectile has a casing 1 with an integral apertured partition dividing the shell into two compartments. The forward compartment houses a percussion fuze 2, 3 and the rear compartment contains a capsule 5 housing a propellant 6 and a cartridge 7 containing a smoke-generating composition 8. A cap 11 fitted over the base of the casing retains the cartridge in position. On impact the primer 3 ignites the fuze and the flash passes through aperture 4 and an opening 9 in the capsule 5 to ignite the propellant. The burning propellant ignites the composition 8 through an opening 10 in the cartridge, which is simultaneously ejected through the base of the shell 1.
