Abstract
1,093,516. Practice ammunition. NICOPYROTECHNIK HANNS - JURGEN DIEDERICHS KOMM. GES. April 7, 1966 [Jan. 7, 1966], No. 15530/66. Heading F3A. Practice mortar ammunition comprises a dummy mortar bomb having a sub-calibre barrel 21 which houses a practice shell 7 with a cartridge case 8. The base of the cartridge contains a propellant charge 10 for the shell, which communicates through a passage 11 with an ejector charge 12. Charge 10 is covered by a plastics film 14. Charge 12 is enclosed by a tamping disc 13 having a central orifice communicating with an igniter 4 in a bottom part 15. This bottom part has passages 18 opening rearwardly which are freed by rupture of the tamping 13 on ignition of charge 12 which ejects the dummy shell from the mortar whilst the practice shell 7 is fired by charge 10. The igniter 4 engages a firing pin (3), Fig. 1 (not shown) at the base of the mortar barrel (1).
