933,349. Smoke and like bombs. WEFO, PYROTECHNISCHE FABRIK WISTEDT W. FORQUIGNON. Aug. 12, 1960 [Aug. 13, 1959], No. 28036/60. Classes 9 (1) and 9 (2). A smoke candle has a friction ignition charge 9 and an ignition charge 10 which is ignited by the combustion gases released on electrical ignition of a propellent charge (not shown), the charges 9, 10 being positioned in recesses 4, 5 in a box 2 holding the smoke-producing composition. A socket 7 attached to an end 6 of the box 2 supports the ignition charges 9, 10 and the propellent charge is housed in a cavity in the socket. A cup-discharger has walls 37 and a removable bottom 38 and electrical contact with the propellent charge is made via conducting strips 13, 14 from pins 46 to an electrical ignition pellet embedded in the propellent charge. The smoke candle may be thrown by hand, in which case the friction igniter is used, or on placing the candle in the cup discharger it may be fired by igniting the propellent charge, whereupon the propellent gases enter between the socket 7 and the bottom 38 to a space 44 and at the same time travel along a bore 29 to ignite the charge 10. A disc 49 with a sealing ring 48 is attached to end 3 of the box 2 to ensure proper positioning of the candle in the cup-discharger and also for sealing the candle in a box similar in shape to the cup-discharger for storage purposes. The smoke-producing composition may be replaced by a fume, incendiary or explosive composition.
