A case for a firing- cartridge in a mortar bomb is partially formed from plastics with at least one external rib 6 to increase its diameter so that it is a frictional. fit in the cartridge chamber. The ribs may extend longitudinally of the easing and may be subdivided into separate sections, or they may be annular cup-shaped with the open end disposed towards the rear of the case. The case has a metal end cap 2.
