Abstract

1,073,517. Ammunition cartridges. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. Sept. 4, 1964 [Sept. 10, 1963], No. 36415/64. Heading F3A. An ammunition cartridge, which may be used in conventional small-arms or industrial tools, comprises a base member 1 housing a priming composition 2 and attached to a case 4 containing the propellant 3, the member 1 being made of material such as copper or aluminium having a high thermal conductivity and the case 4 of material, such as iron or plastics, having a low thermal conductivity. The composition 2 is heat-sensitive and is separated from the propellant by a cover 11. The member 1 may be secured to the case 4 by a bead 5 or by inserting the open end of the case in a channel provided in the base or by providing the case (4) with a stepped profile fitting over the rim (10) of the base as in Fig. 3 (not shown). To ignite the propellant heat is applied to the base 1. The case may be made of combustible material such as nitrocellulose powder.
