Abstract

732,633. Ammunition cartridges. RINGDAL, L. Sept. 17,1953 [June 27,1953], No. 25703/53. Class 9(1). Cartridge case for blank ammunition shown in Fig. 1 has a base part 1, which may be of metal and houses a percussion cap in a recess 2, a tubular shell 3 of elastic plastic material, e.g. synthetic resin, closed at the forward end being connected to the base by an annular bead 4 engaged in a groove 5. The closed end of the shell is weakened by scorings 6 to ensure fracture on firing. The case may also be used for shot cartridges, a transverse web being arranged at some distance from the mouth of the shell and made thinner at its edge, so that the web is blown out with the shot. The embodiment shown in Fig. 4 has a projectile 8 fitted within the forward end of the shell and held by engagement of an annular bead 9 with a groove 10. In a modification the shell is moulded on to the projectile.
