Abstract

548,277. Projectile fuzes. IMBER, J. Dec. 31, 1940. No. 18261. [Class 9 (i)) A time fuze for bombs and pyrotechnic devices to be dropped from aircraft comprises a length of time fuze 7 coiled in a hollow capsule 6 detachably fitted in the fuze body 3 at the rear of the bomb closed by a thin detachable cover 4, the ends of the fuze 7 being axially disposed opposite a percussion cap fired by a spring striker 24 and an ignition or other charge 11. A number of capsules with different lengths of fuzes are made available so that the one giving the desired time may be inserted. The spring striker device may be as described in Specification 545,904.
