Abstract
1,024,256. Blasting-fuzes and detonators. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. Sept. 24, 1962 [Sept. 22, 1961], No. 36303/62. Heading F3A. A uni-directional delay device for insertion in a fuze cord comprises an outer tube 1 of aluminium, a primer charge 10 and an open-ended tube 2 having a base wall 2a which houses a primer cap 4 in a holder 3 and a delay composition 6 together with primary and secondary explosives 7, 8 respectively in a holder 5. The direction of transmission of detonation is shown by arrow D and proceeds from fuze cord housed in a sleeve 9a to the primer charge 10 which deforms without rupture the base 2a of tube 2 to ignite primer cap 4. The flash from cap 4 passes through a lead annulus 12 to ignite the train 6, 7, 8 and hence fuze cord housed in a sleeve 9. Delay composition 6 may be omitted. The primary explosive 7 may be lead azide and secondary explosive 8 tetryl or nitropenta.
