Abstract
258,647. Vickers, Ltd., and Johnson, F. G. L. June 22, 1925. Projectile fuzes. - Relates to direct-action percussion fuzes in which a separate collapsable washer C is inserted between the nose B<2> of the striker and the fuze cap A'; and consists in making this washer from thin metal by spinning or pressing to a shape which completes the outer contour of the fuze cap and striker nose. The washer may be assembled under slight compression, and its front and rear faces mav be coated with varnish to form a waterproof joint. The nose B<2> may be screwed to the stem B which is held in place by a transverse pin b' or by a collar on the stem, or by a shear-wire. The part B<1> carrying the firing pin b may be made separate from the stem B and normally secured a short distance therefrom. The detonator holder D is constructed as described in Specification 252,419.
