[Class 9 (i).] Relates to sensitive percussion fuzes comprising a movable carriage A, Fig. 1, containing a striker B and a percussion cap C with a spacing spring D, the striker being virtually integral with the casing and the percussion cap being guided in the carriage by a washer E with lugs projecting through slots a in the carriage and bearing against a shoulder G<1> on the fuze body G, for example such as described in Specification 238,186, [Class 9 (i), Ammunition &c.]. According to the invention, the striker has a wide head b bearing on a flange a<1> on the carriage which is secured to the head by crimping and bears on a sleeve F of cork or felt so placed that the striker head is set back with respect to the mouth G<2> of the fuze body, the front space x being closed by a cap H, or a diaphragm I, Fig. 4, of small mass preventing direct action of air on the striker head, but yielding to impact and allowing a loose material such as grass to undergo a preliminary settling before acting on the striker. The diaphragm I may be covered by one or more removable caps J. The lugs e<1> of the washer may be bent back as in Fig. 5 to shorten the length of the fuze.
