Abstract
496,164. Projectile fuzes. PERRENOUD, G. Dec. 10, 1937, No. 34299. Convention date, Jan. 30. [Class 9 (i)] The regulating spring 2 of the clockwork mechanism of a projectile fuze is disposed axially of the projectile and is elastically supported in the axial direction, so that it is relieved from strain during the accelerating movement of the projectile. The spring shown is mounted in a protecting tube 16 carrying a spring-guiding member 17. One end of the tube is mounted in the socket 7 of a plate 8 which is recessed to receive a block 5 to which one end of the spring is secured. The spindle of balance 1 is journalled in the plate 8 and in a body part 4 of the projectile and is secured to the block 5. The spindle is allowed a certain freedom of axial movement and the block 5 also is free to move axially in its recess 6. The elastic supporting device for the spring comprises a star-shaped spring 18 the outer edges of which are riveted to a cap 15 on the tube 16 and the centre of which embraces a block 5<1> to which the forward end of the spring 2 is secured. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes modifications in which the shock-absorbing effect is obtained either by interposing a resilient joint between the spring 2 and block 5, or by providing resilient supporting means for the tube 16. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
