Abstract
270,642. Remondy, L. E. May 6, 1926, [Convention date]. Projectile fuzes.-A combined momentum and direct-action fuze has the rear element of the firing mechanism, either the percussion cap or striker, mounted between two elastic supports, the rear support, of greater compressibility than the front support, resting against the bottom of the lodgment in the fuze body, and the front support bearing at the front against the other element of the firing mechanism. As shown in Fig. 1, the percussion cap B is mounted between two springs C, D the front one D of which bears against the striker E. The striker is prevented from moving outwards by an inturned flange a<1>. In a modification, Fig. 3, the elastic supports C, D are sleeves of cork or felt, and the percussion cap B is prevented from moving forwards by inturned projections H<1>. The elements of the fuze may be located in a tubular socket H, Fig. 3, fitting on the fuze body A. This socket mav, as shown in Fig. 5, be provided with screw threads h for screwing the fuze into the projectile.
