Abstract

360,705. Projectile fuzes. THIEL GES. GEB., Ruhla, Thuringia, Germany. Dec. 2, 1930, No. 36345. Convention date, Jan. 21. [Class 9 (i).] Relates to clockwork fuzes of the kind in which a radial pointer 10 is driven by a central spindle 13 but is axially slidable relatively thereto under the influence of a compression spring 18, the pointer 10 being guided by a web 12 movable in a slot in the central spindle. According to the invention, back lash is prevented by maintaining driving contact between the web 12 and the slot by means of a spring causing torsion between the pointer and the spindle. This spring may be a transverse leaf spring or an annular spring ; or the compression spring 18 may itself be made to act torsionally as well as in compression by being attached at its ends to parts 19, 19<1> secured respectively to the centre wheel spindle and pointer. The attachment may be made by longitudinal or radial ends on the spring fitted into holes or slots in the parts 19, 191.
