Abstract

235,167. Brun, J. F., and Brun, P. A. June 5, 1924, [Convention date]. Jewelling and pivoting.-The balance cock 1 which carries a jewel 2 bored at 3 to take the balance staff or pivot 4 has fixed to its upper surface by screws 7, 8 a plate 6 housing a cap jewel 14 against the flat underface of which presses the pivot 4. A disc spring 16 having a central aperture 18 is housed in the plate 6 by burring over the edges 17 of the latter and bears on the top of the cap and jewel. When the watch is subjected to shock, the pivot may thus move axially against the spring action to the dotted line position shown, the spring thereafter restoring the parts. There is a gap 13 to permit slight lateral movement of the cap jewel.
