[Class 135] [Also in Groups XXI and XXXVII] To permit testing of mechanism comprising a universally suspended inertia-element for controlling safety devices, such as valves, fireextinguishers, or switches, for vehicles or aircraft, the mechanism is provided with auxiliary trip-mechanism for actuating the inertiaelement to release it from the controlled device, the trip-mechanism also being arranged to permit the re-setting of the inertia-element, or to effect such re-setting. The Figure shows the mechanism described in Specification 450,862 and comprising a pendulum 1 suspended universally from a spindle 3, and co-operating with a pin 10 on an arm 8 controlling contacts 4. The mechanism is now provided with a trip-device comprising a V-bar 14 on a spindle 13 provided with a knob 17 abutting on a spring 16, the axis of the spindle 13 being slightly eccentric to that of the spindle 3. To release the pendulum, the bar 14 is set parallel to the spindle 3 by turning the knob 17, and the knob is then depressed to cause the bar to abut on the top 11 of the pendulum. To re-set the pendulum, the bar is set at right-angles to the spindle 3 and is then depressed.
