Fluid-actuated valves. - The supply steam to a heating-coil immersed in water to be heated is regulated by a valve B of the gate type operated by a diaphragm H acted upon by the steam pressure in heater. The valve spindle C is connected through a universal joint E to a rod J resting in the diaphragm, which is secured between the upper and lower parts of a chamber G. The lower part of the chamber is placed in communication with the steam space of the heater. The rod J is pressed against the diaphragm by a spring placed between a shoulder L on the rod and an adjustable cap M screwed on an extension of the upper part of the diaphragm chamber. When the pressure of the steam generated in the heater is sufficient to overcome the thrust of the spring, the rod J is lifted and the valve is closed.
