Abstract
635,471. Interconnected valves. LOMAX, W. Nov. 9, 1946, No. 33367. [Class 135] In a gas-heated water boiler, the spindle h of the valve H supplying water to the heater through a pipe F carries a cam h<SP>1</SP> engaging a disc e<SP>1</SP> on the spindle of a spring-closed gas valve E so as to open the gas valve as the water valve is opened. The valve H may be used to regulate the water supply but preferably is used to turn the water on and off, the supply being regulated by a second valve G operated by a handle g. The gas supply to the burners D is also controlled thermostatically. According to the Provisional Specification, the rise on the cam is followed by a flat surface with a small rise or rib on it which determines the greatest opening of the water valve at which it is still possible to obtain boiling water.
