650,370. Controlling gas burners. JACKSON BOILERS, Ltd., and MUSTILL, C. W. Nov. 9, 1948, No., 29047. [Class 75(i)] '[Also in Group VI] An apparatus for the brewing and storage of tea, coffee, &c. comprises a central boiler 1 and side urns 2, 2, the side urns being heated by gas supplied through a valve forming part of, or associated with, the valve supplying gas to the boiler and operatively connected therewith. The control valve 12 comprises a hollow plug having two chambers 13, 14 interconnected by a passage 15. The chamber 13 has two ports 16 at right angles to each other, by which gas from the main supply pipe 7 may pass to the burner of the boiler, and the chamber 14 has a port 19 by which gas may pass to the burners of the side urns through the outlet 20, the ports being so arranged that when the gas under the boiler is turned down, the gas under the side urns is turned up, and vice versa. The passage 15 permits sufficient gas to pass to the side urns to keep them burning when gas is passing to the burner of the boiler. The valve is operated from the draw-off tap 6 by the shaft 5. The primary valve 8 has a pilot jet 11 which is directed towards the burner of the boiler when the valve is " on ", and also has a pin 24 attached thereto which engages with a lever 23 on the valve 22 so arranged that the valve 22 in the pipe to the side urns is automatically closed when the primary valve 8 is closed, but the valve 22 has to be independently re-opened upon re-opening of the valve 8.
