Abstract
461,811. Sterilizing-chambers. McCRAE, J. P., and JONES, E. H. June 25, 1936, No. 18252/35. [Class 81 (i)] A rectangular sterilizing-cabinet comprises an inner lining 10 and an outer casing 11 preferably of metal externally covered with asbestos, thus providing a space 12 through which the products of combustion from a gas burner 17 pass to a flue 13. The burner heats a well 16 in the bottom of the cabinet which is supplied with water from a tank 21. The level of the water in the tank 21 and therefore in the well 16 is maintained constant by means of a ball valve or the like 22. The tap controlling the gas supply to the burner and the tap controlling the flow of water from the tank to the pan overlap or are similarly connected so that the water tap must be turned on before the gas tap can be operated. The water tap is of a three-way type, the arrangement being such that when the supply from the tank is turned off the third passage allows the water in the well to drain away. A door of suitable heat-insulating construction is provided in the front of the cabinet. The burner may be pivotally mounted to be swung outwards or alternatively, a pilot jet may be provided.
