Abstract
259,469. Spencer Thermostat Co., and Spencer, J. A. March 25, 1926. Thermally-actuated valves. -A safety valve for water heating systems is operated thermostatically by a bimetallic cupped disc 6 loosely held between the two parts 1, 2 of the casing, and carrying a valve member 9 co-operating with an adjustable seating 12. The cupped disc is adapted to cause the valve to close abruptly at a predetermined temperature, e.g. 200‹ F. and to open abruptly at a lower temperature, e.g., 160‹ F. The water pressure assists in closing the valve.
