Abstract

207,833. Stary, F. Dec. 4, 1922, [Convention date]. Fluids, regulating volume of flow or pressure of.- The passage just above the fuel nozzle e of a spray carburettor, is constituted bv a tubular member g divided radially into a number of parts, each of which is notched at the back to fulcrum on a ring c of triangular section, which retains the parts in correct position. The parts are supported on a flange b. When no suction is exerted the parts tilt together to form a continuous tube, which tapers slightly towards the upper end. Under the action of suction they are forced apart as in Fig. 2, the channels formed between the parts enhancing the atomizing effect. In a modification, only two hinged parts are employed, the passage produced being of truncated pyramid form, and air may be admitted through apertures at the back of the hinged members.
