Abstract

198,846. North, O. D. March 30, 1922. Motor cars.-An engine for a motor vehicle has two or more radial, horizontal cylinders 4, a vertical crank shaft 5, and is carried on a gear casing 10 arranged beneath the crank case 9. The gear casing contains the clutch 21, change-speed gear 24, 25 driving a worm-wheel 30 on the differential box by the worm 31. The differential gear drives on to a shaft 28, connected by universaljoints to shafts on the front or rear wheels of the vehicle. The Provisional Specification also describes modified change-speed gear comprising epicyclic. and bevel gearing.
