Abstract

197,306. Aluminum Co. of America, (Assignees of Pacz, A.). May 8, 1922, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Alloys.-An oxide coating is produced on aluminium or aluminium alloys by treatment with ammonia solution, preferably at nearly boiling point, the solution containing, for example, one volume of concentrated aqua ammonia to nine of water. Alloys containing 4 per cent of nickel or 1 to 5 per cent of tungsten or 0.1 per cent of silver or up to 5 per cent of iron or 4 to 8 per cent of copper or an alloy comprising 88 per cent of copper, 2 per cent zinc and 10 per cent of aluminium and with other metals and silicon in unspecified proportions are referred to as producing a wide range of colourings.
