Abstract
546,897. Alloys. MOND NICKEL CO., Ltd. March 23, 1942, No. 3850. Convention date, March 22, 1941. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] A platinum alloy for jewellery, electric contacts, dental, and other purposes consists of at least 82 per cent. of platinum, 0.35-5 per cent. of tin, and not less than 0.5 per cent. of other platinum group metal, preferably ruthenium. Up to 5 per cent. of other metals such as copper, nickel, molybdenum, tungsten, iron, magnesium, and calcium may also be present. The alloys may be annealed at 1100‹ C. for 30 minutes and quenched in water. Alloys of platinum with specified proportions of iridium, ruthenium, and palladium are also referred to by way of comparison.
