Abstract
228,143. Soc. Anon. Nieuport-Astra, (Assignees of Hurlimann, Adhemar, & Moillic). Jan. 23, 1924, [Convention date]. Alloys.-A light alloy consists of about 93.3 per cent of aluminium, 3.4 per cent of copper, 1 per cent of nickel, 1.8 per cent of zinc, and 0.5 per cent of magnesium, and is made by first preparing an alloy of 54.5 per cent of copper, 16.5 per cent of nickel and 29 per cent of zinc, deoxidizing this by means of barvta, adding 100 kg. of molten aluminium to 6.5 kg. of the molten product, then adding 500 grams of magnesium to the mixture, treating the whole with 2 kg. of caustic soda, and casting at about 700‹ C.
