Abstract

196,468. Bunn, C. W. April 10, 1922. Hoods.-In a collapsable hoodfitting for vehicles the cant-rail 4 and the upper part of the falling pillar 3 are connected by a lever 1 pivoted to them at 5, 2 respectively, and an upper link 6, pivoted to the cant-rail at 7 and extending rearwardly above the lever 1, is pivoted at 9 to a link 10 which connects it to the rear arm 12 of the lever 1 and to a jointed back stay 14 pivoted at 15 to a rearward extension 13 of the falling pillar 3. The arrangement is such that, on raising the front of the cant-rail the link 10 is moved rearwards and upwards to break the joint in the back stay 14 and, as the link 6 approaches the lever 1, the link 10 passes a position of alignment with the lever 1 and the curved end 21 of the link 6 enters a recess 22 in the lever 1 to lock the fitting in the collapsed position. In the extended position, the fitting is locked by the entry of a stud 25 on thelever into a recess in the cant-rail.
