Abstract
218,842. Sleigh, H. L., Cheston, A. S., and Coward, C. July 10, 1923. Hoods.-In hoods in which the cant-rail is connected to the rear pillar by a link or lever which is continued rearwards and connected to a locking-stay for holding the rear pillar in position, the cant-rail is connected to the rear pillar by link mechanism and by means of a bell-crank lever fulcrumed to the rear pillar and having a depending arm disposed rearwardly of the rear pillar and locking-stay and connected to the upper member of a jointed locking- stay, the arrangement being such that the raising of the cant-rail causes the jointed stay to be broken outwardly. The cant-rail 1 is pivoted at 2 near its rear end to an arm 3 of a bell-crank lever fulcrumed at 7 to the rear pillar 4. Near its forward end the cant-rail is connected by a link 15 to a link 16 pivoted at 17 to the arm 3 of the bellcrank lever, the link 16 being also coupled to the rear pillar 4 by a link 19. The arm 5 of the bellcrank lever is coupled by a link 14 or other means with the upper part 10 of a jointed stay pivoted to the body at 13 and to the rear pillar at 12.
