Abstract

177,646. Wenham, G. H. Jan. 26, 1921. Hoods.-Relates to folding hoods for motorboats, motor road vehicles &c., and consists of means for enabling the front cant-rail to be raised to about the vertical position before motion is communicated to the rear part and the locking- strut, which has an extension which is connected by jointed links to the scissors-joint levers or the like supporting the hood. The scissors levers 14, 16 connecting the front and rear cant-rails 1, 8 are connected to an extension 23 of the strut 24 by jointed links 20, 21, the link 21 having a locking extension 31 which prevents the joint from being broken upwardly. In lowering the hood, the joint 28 of the strut 24 is broken when a stop forming an extension of the pivot pin 22 is engaged by the member 16.
