Abstract

162,473. Spinney, R. D., and Rolls-Royce, Ltd. Feb. 27, 1920. Hoods. - A hood for motor-cars &c. of the type in which (1) the system of hoops and links is supported by one hoop hinged to the body of the vehicle, (2) the other hoops extend from the upper part of the main hoop, and (3) the positioning of the front hoop positions all the other hoops, has two lazy-tongs arrangements of hoops and links, one extending forwards and one rearwards from the main hoop, and a link connecting one of the members of the rear system to one of the members of the front system so that the positioning of the front system causes synchronous positioning of the rear system. A main hoop a supports a front system comprising hoops b, c and links f, g, k, h, j and a rear system comprising hoops d, e and linksl, m, the systems .being connected by a link n which joins the hoop e to the link h. A link o joining the link to a point in the link m compels this point to move in line with the hoop a when the hood is folded or unfolded. In a modification, the link o may be replaced by a pin on the link n moving in a slot cut in the hoop a.
