232,412. Calso Hood Co., Ltd., Dixon, T. E., and Bradley, W. H. I. April 25, 1924. Hoods.-In folding hoods of the kind in which a single standard is pivoted at each side of the vehicle and has forward and rear extensions connected to it by links at each side, the connection to the front extension comprising two links, the linkages are arranged in various ways, as described below. The front bow c, Fig. 3, is connected to the main standard by a link b, while the intermediate bows e, which are pivoted to the first link b, are supported by a link d which is pivoted to the standard at a point above the point of the link b. The rear bow i is carried by two links l, p, the link p being prolonged by means of a slotted quadrant r engaging a pin t on the link d. In another form, the link d may be disposed below the link b, and may coact with the link p by means of toothed quadrants pivoted on the standard. The second link d may be connected to the front bow c instead of to an intermediate bow. In another form, the rear bow i may be pivoted to a rearward extension of the intermediate bow e. Where springs m housed in the standards are employed to assist the raising of the hood, the upper end of the spring is secured to the lower link, as shown.
