Abstract

187,091. Buch, M. A. Sept. 1, 1921. Hoods.-In a collapsable hood for road vehicles and comprising a main pillar on each side thereof, and an extension therefrom carrying a horizontal rail supported at its forward end by the. windscreen and formed in three sections of which the rear one is hinged to the main pillar and to the intermediate section while the forward one has a floating support from two links, one of which is hinged to both the intermediate section and the extension linkage, one only of the two links is connected to the intermediate section and the other has a toggle-joint connection with a link which extends forwardly from the rear rail section. The rear and intermediate sections L, L<2> of the horizontal rail are pivoted together at L<5> and to the main pillar B at L<4>. The front section L' is carried by a toggle-linkage N, O pivoted to it at O<2> and to the section L at N<3>, the linkage being supported by a link M pivoted at M<2> to the pillar B and at M<3> to the link N. a link P, substantially parallel to the link O, controlling the movements of the front section L<3>. A link Q, pivoted to a rearward extension of the link N, carries a rear hoop Q<4> supported from the pillar B by a link R. According to the Provisional Specification, all three sections of the horizontal rail may be connected together, the rear section having a floating connection with the main pillar.
