Hoods are so arranged that when collapsed the operating linkwork is situated forward of the bows and obviates pinching of the hood cover and comprise a rear standard 8 supporting the rear bow 9 and a front standard 10 to which is pivoted the rear part of the horizontal rail 2, 3 and which operates the linkwork and the front part 2 of the rail 2, 3. The rear rail 3 is pivoted to the standards at 7, 11, and an extension 12 of the standard 10 is connected to the front rail 2 by a link 13. Links 14, 17 carrying an intermediate bow are provided, and another bow 19 carried by links 15 is shown which may be connected to the rail in any desired way. Additional pillars may be provided if the hood is of relatively considerable length.
