Abstract

Hoods.-The cant-rail, folding pillar, and back strut of a folding hood or head are linked together in such a manner that the cant-rail folds down on the pillar, and at the same time moves rearwardly so that its rear end projects beyond the end of the pillar. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the strut 10 is pivoted to the cant-rail 1 and connected by a link 12 to the pillar 9, the pillar and cant-rail being connected by a link 7. A pair of hoop-sticks 3, 5 which are pivoted together at 4 are pivoted to the front extension 2 and cant-rail 1 respectively, the stick 5 being connected by a link 6 to an extension of the link 7. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 4, the cant-rail 1 and pillar 9 are connected by a pair of straight links 13, 14, and the strut 10 is pivoted to the link 13 at 15. A hoop-stick 18 carried by the cant-rail 1 is connected by a, link to the extension 2 and by a link 19 to a second stick 17.
