Hoods.-Collapsible hoods for motor-vehicles, more particularly char-a-bancs, comprise a rear section, Fig. 4, and a front section, Fig. 6, with or without a central section. Fig. 5. The rear section comprises a pair of main hoops 1, 2 pivoted together at 3, the hoop 2 being pivoted to the body at 4. A lever 9, pivoted at 6 to the hoop 2, is connected at its rear end to a link 11 pivoted to the hoop 1, and at its forward end to a link 19 pivoted at 20 to a lever 8 carried by the hoop 2. The lever 8 is pivoted at 14 to an auxiliary hoop 15. The link 19 and hoop 15 are connected by downwardly inclined links 22, 26 respectively to the approximately horizontal bar 24 of the central or front section of the hood. A link 28 pivoted to each of the links 22, 26 is slot. ted at 30 to engage a pin 31 on the auxiliary hoop 15. The front section comprises a front hoop 17 and a supporting- hoop 7 connected by links 8, 9, the lower ends of the hoop 7 having open-ended slots resting on supports carried by the body. The link 8 is formed with an extension 33 pivoted to the bar 24, and the link 9 is connected to the bar by a link 34. The central section. Fig. 5, comprises a supporting-hoop 7, an auxiliary hoop 15, and linkage similar to the corresponding linkage of the front and rear sections, with the exception that the part 33 is pivoted to the link 8, and both are formed with shoulders which only come into engagement after the forward portions of the hood have been collapsed. To prevent chattering of the parts when collapsed, a bar 39, Fig. 3, carried by the pivot 4, is provided with projections to engage the open ends of the hoops 7, and is suitably shaped to receive the end of the pivot 16 on the front hoop 17.
