Abstract
390,507. Vehicle hoods. GILL, J. J. and MATTHEWS, C. A., 23, Chilworth Street, Hyde Park, London. Oct. 5, 1931, Nos. 27609 and 33035. [Class 108 (i).] In vehicle hoods of the kind comprising rear pillars and cantrails so interlocked that they are extended or collapsed on raising or lowering the rear pillars means biasing the hood in a forward direction are combined with a retaining device for locking or releasing the hood in erect or collapsed condition. As shown, the rear pillars 11 are pivoted to the body at 28 and provided with extensions 110 between which and the body springs III are fitted tending to erect the hood. Locking means comprising a telescopic arrangement 120 is pivoted to the pillar and to the body and holds the hood linkage in the folded position. The looking means may be released by a wing nut 222 to allow the springs 111 to erect the hood. Other locking means are described in the provisional Specifications. The cant rail is in two parts 12, 13 pivoted together at 27 and to the rear pillars at 21, an extension 21 of the cant rail being linked, by link 17, to the body. The cant rail parts are further connected together and to the rear pillars by arms and links 14, 15, 16.
