Abstract

388,324. Vehicle hoods. BRIGGS MANUFACTURING CO., 11631, Mack Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Ball, A. P. ; 11631, Mack Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.) Aug. 24, 1932, No. 23733. Convention date, May 16. [Class 108 (i).] In vehicle top frames a top supporting bow is provided having the ends of its vertical legs pivoted to the body, a pair of links at each side pivoted to the bow and to a header, and a foldable strut connecting the bow to the body so that on collapsing the strut and turning down the bow a further member will automatically fold the links connecting the bow and header. To the rear face of the falling pillar 20 is pivoted at 22 a link 39 forming one of a pair of interconnected links 38, 39 connecting the peak 36 to the falling pillar. The rear link 39 is extended to the rear and pivoted at 45 to an arm or lever 46 pivoted to the body at 47 so that on raising or lowering the pillar 20 the links 38, 39 and the peak are folded under control. The front link 38 is connected also to the pillar 20 by a link 44. A pivoted back stay 23, 24 having a latch 27 is provided. The hood folds into a recess as shown and the peak and links 38, 39 fold within the falling pillar 20. A spring 50 is provided on the back stay.
