Abstract

176,145. Knight, E. F. Dec. 2, 1920. Hoods.-A hood for motor-cars and other road vehicles provided with a dicky-seat comprises a main hood A, an extensible hood A' adapted to lie below the main hood A in one position and to extend beyond it in another, and struts or hoops S supporting the main hood and so mounted on the body that they may be moved as desired to either of two selected positions. Parallel links d connect the hoop a of the main hood A to the hoop b of the extensible hood A'. When the dicky-seat is folded down and cranks C are turned about their pivots c so that their ends t rest on studs E' instead of on studs E<2>, the hoop a can be attached to the wind-screen, the hoop b lying directly below it. Instead of the cranks C being employed, the struts S may be moved by sliding them along rods, or they mav be moved by hand to engage projecting studs at E, E<2>.
