Abstract
252,484. Pearce &. Sons (Brassfounders), Ltd., G. W., and Jones, A. E. E. March 9, 1925. Wind-screens. - In a supporting device for a vehicle windscreen of the kind comprising at each side of the vehicle upper and lower substantially parallel arms b, c pivoted to the back of the front seat or similar support a and a rear screensupporting arm d pivoted to the arms b, c so as to form a self-locking linkage, a looking or unlocking of the linkage is adapted to be effected by a pivotal movement of the screen in relation to the rear arms d. In the construction shown, the supporting pillar e of the screen is extended below its pivotal point on the arm d, and the extension e<1> is connected by a link f to a singlearm lever g pivoted at the junction c<1> of the two arms c, d. A notch g<1> is formed in one edge of the lever g and adapted, when the screen is erected to a vertical or in-use position, to engage a pin b<2> on the arm b and so lock the supporting linkage. Unlocking is effected by pivoting the screen forwardly, after which operation the linkages can be collapsed to a folded position.
